I've got the same problem in German as well. I decided to translate it 
into two words which would be equivalent to saying "currency/stock" 
instead of "commodity". There just is no single word in german where I 
could say "An account has a commodity" *and* "I'm going to buy a 
commodity". But with the two words it kind of works.
