However, it seems like purely translating the account chart files might 
not result in the most useful account structure. What I'm doing now is 
that I open one GnuCash with *all* US account, and the create a more or 
less equivalent German account structure in a second GnuCash side-by-side. 
Then I export the hierarchy and split the resulting XML file into the 
different categories. That way I can adjust the different accounts much 
more to the local peculiarities :-)

PS: German trains have power sockets aplenty in every car, not to mention 
the gigantic amount of space compared to an airplane. This is a way cool 
place to work...
