Finding this in 1.4.x will be hard. One thing you might do is
to put in a temporary transaction to fix the balance, but keep
the auto-save files around. When 1.6.0 comes out, you can convert
the current file and the auto-save file to XML and use 'diff' to
see what was deleted.
