Problem with Umlauts in german gnucash reports (?)

You mean in all the graphical reports non-ascii characters (such as Umlauts) 
are not displayed, but the textual reports (e.g. Balance Sheet) work fine? 
Yes, that's a known bug, and it is due to a bug in the underlying graphical 
toolkit called Guppi. It won't be fixed unless we switch to a different 
graphical tool. (/me wonders why we don't even have a bugzilla bug on this 
one :)
