i suggest some desiderata to gnucash concerning stocks and currencies

a) stocks:
- automated handling / tracking of dividend and brokerage-fees linked to
individual stocks (in ledger and in reports)
- automated handling of (realized / not realized) profits and losses (lifo;
fifo; average ... methode)
- automated update of price in price-list when buying / selling a stock / bond
- online quotes for swiss stocks (zurich/virt-x) ;-)

and some further desiderata for the beginners
- when opening a stock-account: automated opening balance in equity account (as
it can be done when other asset-accounts are opened)
- in the german translation: account type stock seems to be called 'depot'
(instead of Aktie, Wertpapier)
- the most important missing link in the documentation: a detailed and complete
'step to step' how to manage stocks with gnucash (works not too intuitive ...)

b) currencies (i am using the just published 1.6.5/suse 8.0; may be that 1.6.6.
solves some problems?):
- it should be possible to book other currencies directely into every account
(with possibility to indicate the actually used exchange rate)
- in a couple of reports only one curency is shown; other currencies appear as 0
(though rate has been defined in the price-editor)

PS: am an old linux user but a very new user of gnucash
(imho ripe financial / erp-applications are the most important still missing
link for linux; gnucash seeems to be the most sincere project for a solution;
cheers to the developers)

sincerely
