remarked out msgids

Near the end of the translation po files are a bunch of remarked out 
msgids, like this for example:

#~ msgid "Report items up to and including this date"
#~ msgstr "Listar itens até esta data"

Is the practice to simply delete them?  I imagine they are msgids that 
have been removed from the source code... so could probably be removed 
without causing disaster.
