Thanks Christian.  I found it.  In libgnomeui "_View" is "_Ver" whereas 
I was translating it as "_Veja".  (as an aside, veja is a better 
translation, but for now I'll use ver).

So, should I look for any other overlapping translations between 
libgnomeui?  Is there anything else (besides libgnomeui) where this 
issue exists?

What a pain in the ass this is! :)
