I don't think the error you saw is related to the gnucash source. At
which point in time did this error occur? Oh, I see you got the error
during ./configure of gnucash. In that case this is a configure check
that was introduced quite recently and you should probably comment it
out for now. Comment out the section added by
http://svn.gnucash.org/trac/changeset/14551#file2

In this case 2.0 should work as well (since it is branched very
recently), but in general such an unstable development should rather
happen on the trunk/head instead.
