Okay, I've got 3b1 on Fedora 10, so perhaps '@' was only added in 3b1
so 3a3 is "too old" to have the '@' macro?

Phil, 2.3.6 doesn't work on most platforms due to this patch.  I would
recommend a quick 2.3.7 that backs this out.
