Now there's some advice that would have saved me a bunch of time and would 
explain a lot!!

Some things work....but you're right. I think it's a directory structure 
thing.

So I guess I better go back and compile all the gnucash things from source 
and see if it works. 

As usual I spent a week trying to do it the easy way. <grin>
