Hello,

I'm a Belgian user of gnucash and I had the same problem than you 3 months 
ago. Indeed, I have preferred to convert my gnucash accounts before the 
deadline of 1th January.

My simple and basic solution had been, in each subcategory, to add a 
transaction labelled "Euro Conversion (1/2)" removing the total amount of 
money in Belgium Francs to zero and then, to enter a new transaction adding 
the equivalent in Euro and called "Euro Coversion (2/2)". 

I had been surprised to see that this solution was adopted also by my bank on 
my "extraits de comptes" (Sorry, I don't know the English translation of 
that. It means the bank report of all my account transactions).
