I have control-center-devel-1.4.0.5-10.ximian.2 installed. I looked at
the spec file for the control-center-2.0.1 source rpm, and lo-and-behold
there's a note that they deliberately left out the devel libraries and
headers, and they did not build a -devel package. That's pretty
brain-dead on RedHat's part, IMO. You don't leave out stuff that the
application creator intended to be installed.
You could install the src rpm for control-center, and edit the spec file
to include the missing files, and then rebuild the rpm. Here's what is
in my version:

/usr/include/libcapplet1
/usr/include/libcapplet1/capplet-widget.h
/usr/lib/cappletConf.sh
/usr/lib/libcapplet.a
/usr/lib/libcapplet.la
/usr/lib/libcapplet.so

Out of curiosity, do you have any version of gtkhtml installed (rpm -qa
| grep gtkhtml)? I don't know if gnucash will compile with gtkhtml2 or
not, but other people have been able to compile on RH 8.0. Have you
tried compiling gnucash yet?

Also, at ftp.ximian.com under /pub/redhat-80-en there is an
already-compiled version of gtkhtml1-1.1.7.

I use RH 7.3.

Seems like the 1.4.0.1 version requires image libraries that are outdated b=
y the ones used by many of the RH 8 programs. In particular libImlib.so.1 i=
s needed by control-center-devel 1.4.0.1 but the lib on RH 8 is libImlib.so=
.11 and the rpm command complains about installing the earier version.
