Two windows when using GC

Edit -> Preferences -> General
click on "Show Advanced Options"
click "Apply"
to the "Advanced" page
select a different MDI type
click Apply
go back and select notebook
click Apply


I wish I knew why it screwed this up in the first place, but I've seen
this myself periodically, but not in a way I could reliably reproduce.
