Paid Invoices

Is there any indication that an invoice has been paid?
I saw the recievables aging and related reports and they work great, but
when I am entering a payment against an invoice, it seems to just list
all invoices for the customer (when searching by customer).
It would be nice if it knew, that the invoice has been paid so it could
indicate that and prevent me from entering a payment for that invoice
again.
