I'm trying to modify the balance sheet report to make the trial balance
report my accountant asked for. I've successfully made some changes, but
I'm still trying to understand the html-build-acct-table function which
seems to do the bulk of the work.
What is the purpose of the various columns it generates based on
tree-depth?
I'm looking for just a debit and credit column, but it seems to generate
generate columns based on tree-depth and I can't tell what they are all
for?
What determines which column the balance from an account goes into? I
have a setup like this:
Liabilities
AmEx Card $1,235.25
Other Current Liabilities
Loan Payable $13,162.51
Liabilities and Other Current Liabilities are placeholders. All accounts
are of type "Liability". Yet, the AmEx amount comes out in a different
column. If I move it under Other Current Liabilities, then it comes out
in the same column.
Are these columns not debit and credit? If not, can I get debit and
credit columns?
Can I hide the Balance column that html-build-acct-table generates?
Is html-build-acct-table the right tool for what I am trying to do?
Here's my goal:
account debit credit
assets
current assets
bank account $$$
liability
amex card $$$
other liability
loan $$$
etc.
