hi ralph,

you will need an account to track the money your lady ows you.

assets->loans->girlfriend (yes, i have an account like this too and i can
tell you my lady does not mind... she laughs about it ;-)

now you can have a split transaction

assets->cash 100%		to	expenses->tv-set
50%	(or 25%)
				and 	assets->loans->girlfriend	50%
(or 75% - whatever ;-))

when she pays you back you then book

assets->loans->girlfriend	to	assets->cash

providing she pays you back in cash ;-)

over the time i have found gnucash to be very powerful when it comes to
create complex transactions. i have some geeky transactions involing 14
accounts. these are my salary bookings with all kinds of taxes and
insurances and extra payments and ... it took me about a day to figure out
how to get it right. at the end of the day it is pure logic and all you need
to understand is the source of the data. where does the money come from and
where does it go?

cheers

rene
