Scheduled Transactions Howto?

I'm at the same place you are with GnuCash, i.e. I'm trying to get
started and I have a requirement for scheduled transactions. I'm running
SuSE Linux 9.0 and GnuCash 1.8.7. I thought I saw scheduled transactions
in the help file but I just looked and it's not there. I'd be willing to
help you figure out how to do scheduled transactions but where do we
start?
