Quickbooks Pro does not really do inventory. There are some parts of it that track the value of
goods for sale. It also has classes which can be used to look at the data in another
structure,i.e., a structure which cuts across the account hierarchy. Quickbooks Pro has
not supported exporting except in minimal ways. There has been some encouragement of the
development of third party addons to Quickbooks Pro, e.g., Nonprofit Books. Some relational
database programs advertise Quickbooks Pro plugins or modules. The fine print often says
that these are for extracting data from Quickbooks Pro and that writing back to the Quickbooks
Pro file is at your own risk. I have not used one but my belief is that these DBMS simply expose
the internal tables but not the relationships.
