GnuCash crashes giving a Segmentation Fault Error....

Were you doing something similar to the reports for bug
#140400? http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140400
 
If this is your problem, unfortunately the answer is don't
do the behavior that causes the crash (removing accounts
that are in use or removing splits left over from previous
transcations.)

It should be possible to replay your log file to get back the
changes you made.  File->Import->Replay Gnucash .log file.
(I recommend making backup copies of your data file first.)
