Gnucash on SuSE9.3 (gal)

Hello all,

i can't compile gnucash 1.8.12 on SuSE 9.3. When I run configure, it 
stops with:

checking for libglade... yes
checking for main in -lgal... no
configure: error: gal library not found. See the README and config.log 
for more info.

gal and gal-devel are installed from SuSE 9.3:

# rpm -qa | grep gal
gal-0.24-218
gal-devel-0.24-218
