QIF importing oddity

I'm trying to figure out whether this is a bug or a feature...

I have my 401k on Fidelity, and the QIF file I get from them has a
transaction name that is padded to 31 characters with spaces. The padding
spaces are faithfully imported by gnucash.

The transaction name imported in gnucash is thus:
"Contribution__________________" (swapping underscores for spaces); is it a
bug for gnucash to import the spaces? (I would think so, but what do I
know?)

Cheers,
