What happens to deleted asssets info?

I've found the log files very very useful.  I once had a 
misreconcilation (started out with wrong opening balance) and went 
throught the logs until I found one that worked.  (binary search).  Then 
did a diff to find out what was different between the one that failed 
and the previous one that worked.  Found a change in a reconciled 
transaction -- the reconciled end had been moved to another account.  It 
appears it happened when I was editing the other (unreconciled) end of 
the transaction.

After that experience I'll conpress my old account files, and maybe 
check them into a revision control system to save space, but -- delete 
them? Never.
