Feel free to butt in.

My example probably wasn't the best one, but what I was looking for is that
the parent account can have the totals for its sub accounts. It doesn't seem
to do this... at all.

For instance, if I select only the "Expenses" parent account and "Level of sub
accounts" as "All", from what Derek was saying this should give you a total
for all the sub accounts.

It does not. I get the following:

Account Name Debit	Credit
Expenses
    	   	£0.00 £0.00

(I can assure you that the Expenses total is considerably more than zero. It
shows correctly in the Account tree).

Basically I cannot seem to get any of the parent accounts to show totals under
any conditions on this report. Derek suggests it is a bug, and I tend to
agree.

Looking at the income statement report as a comparison, this does the parent
totals correctly. (Although I've found a different problem with this report
which I will post separately about).

Would the fix for this be in the core Gnucash code, or is it likely to be
fixable by modifying the scheme report?

Cheers,
