Extended memo information

Is there a way to popup a window to edit the Notes field information in the second line of the transaction register, similar to the Notes field in the New Invoice form. I like to record all sorts of information about the transaction: method of payment, payee contacts, warranty, rebate, when received/due/mailed/posted, etc. A one-line memo field is insufficient.
A Windows workaround is to double-click the memo field to select, ctrl-C, DEL to delete original text, start Notepad, ctrl-V, edit the text, range-select, ctrl-C, ctrl-V to original memo field. Lots of steps and time.
A more elegant suggestion would be a check-format form similar to New Invoice. This form, when completed, would fill in corresponding transaction register fields (and handle the confusing debit/credit postings). The Notes would be similar to what is in New Invoice. The old Parsons Money-Counts program has such a feature.
