Is it too user-unfriendly to expect people to

- know where their gnucash data is stored (which they themselves
determine when they first create the file), and
- know how to use a filesystem browser, such as Windows Explorer, to
copy the file to a USB stick or some other device?

Everything needed to make the backups you're talking about is already
provided by every environment in which Gnucash runs, so why do we need
to clutter the Gnucash UI and the code with another version of it?

Gnucash isn't Microsoft Bob or Computerized Finance For Dummies. It
takes some knowledge of your own computer just to get the thing
installed, not to mention using it effectively, so I really don't
think it's unreasonable to assume that people will be able to manage
copying a file from here to there, especially with a little
documentation.
