Where exactly did I shout? I kindly ask you to point this out... As for
insults I did not start out insulting anybody until people started insulting
me. When I'm attacked I attack back. I've funny like that.

(both of which you have been doing)

Prove it. I bet you can't.

They can be academic in nature and lead to a useful conclusion. However, you
have been unwilling to entertain any other possible outcome than to say that
you are right, and everyone else is wrong.

Again I'll ask you to prove it. I never said I'm right and you all are
wrong. I said my opinion is a valid viewpoint to consider and shouldn't just
be dismissed. This is way different than your accusation above.

Doesn't it seem odd to you that you are getting so much resistance?

Not really. I find often people in tech fields are set in their ways, lack
an open mindedness and get into fights easily because they cannot take
criticism. It's been said that that's because they lack social skills, I
don't know. Or maybe it's because it represents work for them or it's just a
different way to approach a problem. They are highly proud, IMHO to their
determent, and think their way is best for all. This seems to happen a lot
in the open source arena as programmers aren't compelled by their employers
to make the customers happy even if it isn't necessarily the way they'd do
things.

The difference between me and other people is most other people sink into
the background and don't say anything. I, however, stand my ground.

We don't mind helping people out, but the fact that you assume that you are
correct in how it "should" behave
> (given that you are completely new to the system) is extremely arrogant.

I put forth a different way of doing terms. Many other software products do
it that way. I guess they are all wrong too. However I just wanted it
considered instead of summarily dismissed without much consideration.
Obviously you believe that that attitude is wrong, extremely arrogant and me
just saying I'm always right. I thoroughly disagree. I don't suspect you'll
attempt to justify that attitude. So be it.

I also put forth the concept that if you can stop from doing wrong thing
then you should not do the wrong thing. Again, an abhorrent attitude to have
on my part I guess. I mean how dare I ask for an open source program to do
something nice, or to refrain from doing something wrong. Ah the belief to
not cause the user additional work, to not "do the wrong thing", to not warn
the user about a bad action, one that you admit you cannot handle! Well
that's blasphemy in the highest by your definition I suppose! How dare I!!!
If that's extremely arrogant well then call me extremely arrogant but you
must allow me therefore to call you a fool if we are going to be throwing
out undeserved names at each other.

Especially when it had to be pointed out to you what double-entry
bookkeeping is...

Neither of these issues has anything to do with "double-entry bookkeeping"
so stop leaning on that as a crutch. The two issues we have been discussing
was making entering of terms easier (struck down as "hundreds of buttons")
and not importing Invoice transactions when you admit that the program does
not know how to handle such records. What the heck does either of those
issues have to do with "double-entry bookkeeping". Answer: Nothing. But that
doesn't stop you from calling me arrogant and saying I'm ignorant about
double-entry bookkeeping...

It's up to _you_ of whether or not you want to import them.

So are you saying, by that standard, that importing /etc/passwd should
likewise be allowed???

Read the link I sent you. I was trying to provide you with a solution, but
you seem more interested in arguing this to attrition. The article walks you
through step by step the process of mapping your accounts and transactions
while you import. You should be able to get to where you want to be, by
following this process, _if_ you are willing to spend
> the time to try...

Who said I wasn't?

Good, because you're irritating a lot of other people in the process. I
venture to guess this is not the first mailing list where you have
participated in lengthy arguments with other members. Think about that.

There are a lot of unreasonable people in this world. I don't suffer the
illusion that I can fix any of them and nor do I try.

This is not normal behavior.

I agree and I wish you guys would stop.
