How can I get 'current' to be the total of the 'current' balances of an account and all its subaccounts?

David, you have (inadvertently?) pointed to a major problem. The green
arrow at the end of the column headings in the accounts window -- if
that is the arrow you are referring to above -- allows selection of the
column headings. Several of these provide different aggregations of the
amounts posted in the accounts shown. The problem is what these
aggregations represent is nowhere explained.

On 2009 May 6 I posted the following message to the list:

"At the extreme right of the column headings bar in the accounts tab is
an downward pointing arrow. Clicking on this arrow opens a window with
all the available display options for the accounts tab.

"Some of the options are intuitive, such as "accounts code" and
"placeholder', but most are not. Is there any place where the
difference between, for example, "present", "balance", "total", etc. are
explained?"

This post was never answered, most likely because no one on the list
knew the answer. Does *anybody*, on or off the list know? If this
information appeared in any of the documentation -- however imperfectly
- -- I just possibly could have been able to figure them out myself.
