Qif import from bank creates multiple duplicates

I am getting 30+ duplicates that I have to check off at every qif download.
If I miss even one, my checkbook balance is off and it takes forever to
track it down. I am not a programmer.  I had similar issues with MoneyDance,
so I switched to GnuCash. My primary bank does not offer OFX importing, but
when I use OFX with a bank where I have a second checking account, this
doesn't happen. Is it me? Is it the bank? Can anyone help? I am a former
MsMoney user, but have started with a fresh GnuCash account on Jan 1.
