New Transaction field in the register

I just built GC 2.3.8 (svn r18614 on 2010-02-06) on Ubuntu and noticed a
new feature. It's Bug 600374
   https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=600374
which implemented the editable transaction field in the register for
bank accounts.
I am using my register in double-line display mode and I'm now seeing
all these additional dates. I don't know where these dates are coming
from and I now have a hard time looking for a specific transaction date
due to these interspersed, seemingly out-of-order and/or nonsensical
dates that are displayed as part of this new feature.

When I saw the dates for instance in the older version:
2010-01-23
2010-01-24
2010-01-24
2010-01-25

I now have a list of dates that looks like the following:
2010-01-23
2010-02-04
2010-01-24
2007-09-10
2010-01-24
2010-02-04
2010-01-25
2010-02-04

Does an option exist that allows me to suppress the display of these
newly displayed transaction dates and go back to the former display?

If such an option doesn't exist what would happen if I were to delete
those dates? Would it mess up my data file/reports/etc.?
