Accents on Mac OS X

First of all let say what a wonderful work is Gnucash. Today I deleted Adempiere of my computer. Gnucash is all I need to manage my micro-enterprise finances.

The only problem I have is that I can't use accents on GnuCash-2.2.9. Is it default behavior or am I doing something wrong? My OS is Mac OS X 10.4.11 PowerPC. 

Another question is how can I install the brazilian portuguese translation of GnuCash.
