OK, that is a little more directed than the debugging I have tried so
far ("turn all log options on"), so perhaps it will yield more clear
information.

I have done this, and both looked at the file by hand (which didn't
highlight any obvious issues) and saved "recieved" portion of the file
separately and successfully imported it into Gnucash with no problems.
