can't open gnucash file

The first file, PersonalAccounts.qif, is a transfer file. Gnucash can import it but can't open it.

Notice that the Gnucash file names, "Joint Personal Checking Gnucash.gnucash" and "Joint Personal Checking.Gnucash.gnucash" are different, there's an extra dot in the second one. Try renaming it with Finder to just "Joint Personal Checking.gnucash" and then opening it with File>Open (or command-O).
