Hello Geert:

You replied to posting on a problem I am having for gnucash and I hope you
can help me more.

No suitable backend was found for
file://C:\Users\Fred\Desktop\.gnucash\books\03May2011.gnucash.gcm
<file:///C:\Users\Fred\Desktop\.gnucash\books\03May2011.gnucash.gcm> .

I am running Windows 7 and I just installed 2.4.10 and I still get the above
error when I try to open files from my old computer.

I am afraid, I don't know how to get my old files (account structure,
details) opened in this new version of GnuCash. I am willing to pay you
(paypal) if you can help me.

Without some additional details about your operating system it's hard to
tell what goes wrong exactly...

But my first guess would be that you used the sqlite backend when you first
created the older data files. GnuCash depends on libdbi and its various
database drivers for sqlite, mysql or postgresql access (the "backends").
When you reinstalled gnucash you may have forgotten to install the proper
libdbi database drivers.
