For your first try, right click on an existing transaction similar to
what you want to schedule.  Then click on schedule...

Then fill in repeat frequency and dates as desired, and see what is on
the template page.  Often all you have to do is click OK, but you can
edit the transaction just as you would a register transaction.  Stay
with simple numeric values.  Trying to work with variables is too tricky
for me.
