GC 2.4.10 installed under Ubuntu 12.04 LTS doesn't run

Binreloc support is normally enabled only on Macs. That info message has been there forever, and is absolutely meaningless. You can ignore it. Is Gnucash failing to start? 

No, if you're not able to build it yourself you're dependent upon the distro.
