   Thank you John,

   I too noticed that the program would launch okay after clearing the
   hang but I wasn't sure if any vital files had not been extracted which
   would cause the software to malfunction later on. Thank you as well for
   the link to the latest nightly build.

   Yes, someone else reported the same problem yesterday. I just tested it
   on Win7 and got the same hang.
   After killing setup in TaskManager, I was able to navigate to
   C:\Program Files (x86)\gnucash\bin and
   launch GnuCash by clicking on the program file (gnucash, not
   gnucash-launcher), so the installation is
   satisfactory. You can easily create a shortcut by hand by dragging that
   either to the desktop or Start
   Menu as you prefer.
   If you’d rather, you can download the latest nightly build,
   [9]http://code.gnucash.org/builds/win32/trunk/gnucash-2.5.8-2013-11-23-
   git-71a50a8+-setup.exe . I just tested it and it worked fine.
