Version 2.6.3 won't save when there are open Reports

No, the problem is most definitely that your 2.6.1 and 2.6.3 installations
on the same host are interfering with each other. You clearly have some
remnants of 2.6.1 on your system, even if you *think* you removed it all.
You should make sure you completely remove it. I would recommend "rm -rf
/usr/local" but you probably don't really want to run that command. More
likely yuou should go through everything in /usr/local and hand-remove
everything that may be gnucash related. In particular there is probably
some .scm files lying around still from that previous install.
