Bus Invoicing for Hours

I don’t specifically use hours, but do invoice for units (of produce).

Provided you type the exact same description, and GNUcash does auto-fill to make that easier, it will generally guess the unit price based on whatever price you used for that description last. It would be nice if one could associate prices with both items and customers, since pricing does depend not only on the item, but on the customer. The closest approximation I know of currently is to change the description.

Thus, I might have “Carrots, 5 lb” that I use for wholesale customers, and “Carrots, 1l” for retail customers. In this way it isn’t totally obvious to customers that the price when sold by pounds is wholesale whereas the price when sold by volume is retail. This definitely has its limitations - not every wholesale customer will qualify for the same rate, perhaps, and not every retail outlet sells at the same price.

A similar approach could be used for hourly billing, but yes, it does have limitations.
