Unofficial GnuCash Forum

Mark,
I have been a GNUcash user for many years. The mailing list has provided
all the support I have needed for GNUcash. Personally, I really don't see
the issue with a mailing list. Searching the mailing list is as easy as
typing in the Google search bar. I get hits on topics related to my search
from the mailing list archive (via nabble), personal blogs of GNUcash
users, GNUcash books online, and many other sources with potential answers
to my questions.
I would say that every one of the open source/FOSS applications that I use
all have mailing lists and irc channels. I find those few that have forums
are much more difficult to use for support, as I have to go to the forum to
see a response to my question (after receiving an email notification that
someone responded). Mailing lists are very common in the FOSS world.
I applaud your effort, but I really think you are solving a problem that
the GNUcash community does not have. In addition, another support channel
will only serve to dilute the efforts of the community to help new users.
Particularly since the developers have already chimed in that they only
want to use the mailing list.
Just my 2 cents,
Mark
