Many of us have been where you are now. You need to develop a plan and
expect the conversion to be a major project with worthwhile results.

Each of us has different expectations, so we have different solutions to
meet our needs. First you need to explore the conversion process and
identify the parts of your data that are actually important enough to
convert. Many of us bite the bullet and only convert the last year or
so of data, leaving the older stuff in the old format. Often, older
data is not structured well for our current taste anyway. Since Quicken
is not designed to follow double entry bookkeeping standards rigorously
you may find that some of your data does not import well and would need
to be massaged too much to be worth the effort.

Some of us have run both programs in parallel for a while to be sure
that the new program and the new data format will meet our present
needs. Some changes usually need to be made to be efficient in the new
environment. Good luck!
