Counter Number Format

I'm new to GNUCash and using a mac.

I'm trying to setup a prefix for both the invoice numbers, as well as the
customer numbers, but without much success.

I'm by no means a developer, but have tried to find a solution online
without any success, this post seems to be the closest.

Do you have any suggestions on what to try? I'm using v2.6.9
