Hi Fred,

The columns in the registers are unfortunately not customizable. This was never implemented.

One possible, albeit clunky workaround could be to resize the columns you don't want to zero 
width. They will still be there but you won't see them anymore.

Also note that you won't be able to skip the transfer column. It's a mandatory field for each 
transaction you enter. And it also won't be possible to replace the two deposit/withdrawal 
columns with one "amount" column.

If you want more control you'll have to get your hands dirty and change the program's source 
code... That's not a topic for the gnucash-user list though. If you want to go that route, feel 
free to ask about this on gnucash-devel.
