Can't import QIF file

Sorry to reply to my own post but this may help someone else:

The problem appears to be either Opensuse or the fact that it was running in
a Virtual Box.

Trying to import the same files on a laptop running Ubuntu 15 went as smooth
as silk.

Both versions of GnuCash were "native".  As I intend to run under Ubuntu
eventually I guess this is solved. :-)
