Square Cash Exchange how the heck do I do this?

Working away at book keeping for a little non profit and I am figuring out
how to make Gnucash work for most things but How do I register this:
Someone (Sam) comes to an event to help us out but brings no cash and wants
to buy stuff that requires cash so out comes the bank card for a Cash
Exchange with Square.

We get to give them $20 from our cash drawer, they give us $20 via Square. 

I tried setting up an Invoice for $20 that pointed to a short term liability
(invoices normally point to income accounts, but this is not income. I can't
count it as revenue.)

I am not sure how to do this with an invoice. Should  I use something else. 
I am trying to think of us an a ATM machine but all the searches for that
come up with withdrawing money not dispensing it.

I am sure there must be something simple I can do here.
