transferring gnucash from ubuntu to mac os x

1) The notes I was trying to follow are from “GnuCash Tutorial and Concepts Guide”, Chapter 2 The Basics, 2.7 Migrating GnuCash data.
2) GnuCash v2.6.12 download for intel Mac just expands to a directory with files in it. There is not mention on how to install. And if I try running GnuCash from it, it never stops running.
3) i’ve tried installing that v2.6.10 version in MacUpdate, but that doesn’t seem to run either. It keeps telling me it wants to update instead and flags the install with an exclamation point.

I can no longer run GnuCash on my mac, as I deleted it as part of a trial inatallation of another version. And can no longer get the installs to work.

Any help with re-installing it would be appreciated.

If I can’t get it to run in Mac OS X, I might just install an ubuntu VM and run it there; assuming the data copies over correctly. But at least it would be Ubuntu->Ubuntu.
