transferring gnucash from ubuntu to mac os x

Adding on to Colin’s points:

1) On the Mac, you cannot double-click the data file in Finder and have that file open in GnuCash; GnuCash will insist on opening whatever file was your last-opened data file on OS X. So, if you have opened, say, GnuCash file “A” on the Mac previously, *that* file will open when you double-click on GnuCash file “B”. Following Colin’s File->Open suggestion will address this. This is a known GnuCash-on-Mac idiosyncrasy.

2) Are you trying to do this on a regular basis? It sort of sounds like you are; if so, perhaps putting the file in a cloud location (e.g., DropBox) might alleviate your problems long term. The usual caveats regarding data security on the cloud and simultaneous access to the data file should be heeded of course.
