Did you do one massive import?

I am now suggesting that you do another import, and that you stage the
import, doing 10 to 20 transactions / lines at first. Code / edit /
place correctly those transactions, then the importer will learn from
that and there will be less to edit on the next run. As you get further
into the importation, you will be able to import large numbers of
transactions with few edits, because the importer will know what you
want to do with the transactions.

This second import should be into a fresh set of books / a new file.
