Actually that is the normal way that the "find" feature works.  A search is initially limited to split lines that match the current account register view.  If you want to search all split lines it is suggested that.you start your search in the chart of accounts view or if you want to limit your search to the date range currently shown in the general ledger view, start from there.

(Trying again.)Is there something wrong with GnuCash Find or am I missing something? Here'swhat I see.I'm running GnuCash on Windows 10. I'm working with a GnuCash data file thatcame from a QIF import. The QIF import corresponds to a Quicken account thatwas called "XYZ Savings". Many of the transactions from the original Quickenaccount had no categories so GnuCash import sets up the transfer account as"Unspecified". The result is that, when I got to the register for account"XYZ Savings" which was created by the import, I see lots of transactionswhere the target account is "Unspecified". So far so good. What puzzles me is the behavior of GnuCash Find. If I start from theregister of account "XYZ Savings" and use the dialog to say 'Find <"Unspecified">' I get no hits. The resultant Findlist is empty. Shouldn't the find list show all the transactions where thetransfer was between "XYZ Savings" and "Unspecified"?This smells like a bug to me but I'm not sure.--View this message in context: http://gnucash.1415818.n4.nabble.com/Bug-in-GnuCash-Find-Behavior-tp4682378.htmlSent from the GnuCash - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com._______________________________________________gnucash-user mailing listgnucash-user at gnucash.orghttps://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user-----Please remember to CC this list on all your replies. You can do this by using Reply-To-List or Reply-All.
