How is your Windows system itself configured ? Is is using Swedish regional settings or English 
ones ?

If your Windows is set to Swedish locale, then it's possible your experience is a side-effect of 
this bug:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=725296

If that's the case, the only decent solution will be to fix the gettext code (which we don't 
control).

As possible workaround you can create your initial gnucash file on your private Ubuntu 
machine and copy that over to the Windows pc's at work. The account names will remain as 
they are initially created on Ubuntu even after moving the file to windows.
