Transfer between two mutual funds

All,

DISCLAIMER - I am not an accountant!

I had a mutual fund xyz that was transferred to fund zyx. NO money
transactions were generated the only difference was the resulting number
of shares 145.685 shares in xyz is now 206.403 in zyx. The value of the
holding remains unchanged.

How is the best way to handle this transaction(s)?

I am leaning toward selling 145.685 xyz for $ and buying 206.483 zyx for
same $ and ignore the gain/loss portion of the sell transaction.

Ideas...

Thanks,
Jay
